Ubuntu уменьшает / увеличивает количество ядер, используемых по требованию

Я хотел бы узнать о передовых методах управления по требованию на основе количества ядер, используемых в Dell PowerEdge 1950 Gen II под управлением Ubuntu 16.04 lts.

PowerEdge 1950 имеет два четырехъядерных процессора Intel Xeon X5363, питание по запросу, включенное в BIOS, и полностью поддерживает IPMI.

Как я могу уменьшить / увеличить количество ядер в зависимости от потребности? Пробовал cpufrequtils, но безуспешно.
